Goddard Arts Guild (GAG)
Goddard is home to a wealth of artists. Our halls – often grooving to the beats of our myriad musicians – are full of talented painters, dancers, actors and writers. Many of these artists are already pursuing their interests through classes and involvement in our incredible streams, such as At The World’s A Stage (ATWAS) or Writing New York (WNY). The student-led Goddard Arts Guild (GAG) would serve to indentify, unite and network our artists, primarily to discuss issues related to the arts community in Goddard and cultivate the aforementioned arts community.
Jarett will hold the first meeting - to discuss goals, organization, and opportunities for leadership – this Thursday, October 2 @ 7:30pm in the Classroom (Rm. 203). If you’re interested in joining this informal group and/or opportunities for leadership, please come out!
*Ideas/issues for the Guild could include: lounge decoration/hall beautification, group outings, musician rehearsal space, supplies for artists, a Goddard (bi-)monthly literary newsletter.
Goddard Green Initiative (GGI)
We are living in a time where - spurred on by fossil fuel dependence, global warming and the industrialization of China & India - environmental issues have become increasingly significant. New York University (NYU) itself has developed its own sustainability plan of action to address its environmental impact. The student-led Goddard Green Initiative (GGI) would serve to identify, unite and mobilize Goddard’s “green” leaders to discuss and address Goddard’s environmental impact and how we can contribute to and take the lead on ecological issues in the residence hall community.
Jarett will hold the first meeting – to discuss goals, organization, and opportunities for leadership – this Thursday, October 2 @ 9:30pm in the Basement/Game Room. If you’re interested in hearing more about GGI and want to join the cause and/or become a leader, please come out!
*Ideas/issues for GGI could include: measuring Starbucks plastic cup waste in a visible manner, bottled water boycott, stair-only floors or hours, stair-climbing health facts, eco-grants for physical improvements to Goddard, pushing for eco-friendly products in NYU shops (i.e. shampoo)
Also, Jarett will divulge his research on whether or not Hayden Dining Hall is “green”.
