Million Trees NYC This Saturday at 8am!!!!!

A Letter for Million Trees Volunteers
Meeting Saturday, April 24th at 8am in the Goddard lobby


Dear volunteers,

Thank you for participating in this Saturday’s volunteer day to plant 500 trees at Spring Creek Park and support MillionTreesNYC in our mission to create a cleaner and greener NYC. We have a very exciting and fun-filled day ahead of us and want to be sure that everyone’s prepared to dig in. If you signed up a group please forward this information on.

Time: Please note that registration takes place at 9:30am and the event lasts until 2pm. Please make every effort to

show up on time. Your contact on site is Andy Rabb (646) 879-6554.

Volunteer waiver: We require all volunteers to sign a waiver before participating. The waivers will be at registration when you arrive in the morning. If you are under 18 years of age, please fill out the waiver form attached, have a parent or guardian sign, and bring it with you on Saturday.

Proper attire: Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing they will not mind getting dirty. Please wear sneakers (no flip-flops or open toed-shoes). Please note: Volunteers are responsible for their belongings. NYRP and Parks staff cannot insure personal belongings will be safe if left unattended.

Provisions: Lunch and water will be provided thanks to RCano Events.

Inclement weather: This is a rain or shine event. We’ll bring extra ponchos!

Getting There:

By Car: Van Wyck Expy (678 South) to Belt Pkwy/Shore Pkwy West. Take Exit 15 – Erskine Street. Exit 15 turns right and becomes Erskine St/Erskine Loop. Right on Seaview Ave. OR: Take Linden Blvd East to Fountain Ave. Make a right on Fountain Ave. Make a right onto Seaview Ave.

Public Transit: Take the A train to Euclid Ave. Take the Q8 bus (East NY- Gateway Mall) to Fountain Ave & Brooklyn Development Center. Walk South on Fountain Ave to Seaview Ave.

Don’t know how to plant a tree? Please review the attached guide to proper tree planting technique. You will also be given a demonstration on site before planting. Please pay attention, and feel free to ask questions of Parks Natural Resources staff.
