Things To Know 4 Move-In Day at Goddard

So, tomorrow is the BIG day! We hope you are as excited to be moving into the Res College as we are to have you. Move-in at Goddard is pretty simple; here are some things to keep in mind to ensure you have a smooth day:

  • Arrive at your assigned check-in time. This allows for a 'spreading out' of all the check-ins which leads to less congestion in the lobby & floorways, shorter waits in the elevator lines, and happier people in general! :)
  • Meet your RA on your floor right away! They have been working hard all summer to prepare their floors for your arrival! They are super excited to meet you! They will also have very important information that you're going to need - so find 'em quick! They will be on your floor mingling around most of the day!
  • Remind your parents to attend one of the Goddard Res College "Parent Info Sessions." We have three scheduled throughout the day - they can come to whichever one is most suited for their schedule. They'll get important info about Goddard and NYU, a chance to take a break from moving you in, and you'll get a break from them too!
  • Attend your Mandatory First Floor Meeting. Your RA will tell you the exact start time (aprox 7pm) and will be giving out crucial information and items that you're going to need this first night. You'll also be meeting all of your new neighbors then too. Remember it's required for you to attend (you probably want your parents to head home or otherwise skip this)!
  • Lastly, attend the 2nd Annual Goddard-Pallooza w/ Fondue event starting at 8:30pm in the Basment! Free Fondue, Fun with your Fantastic new Goddard neighbors, and some crazy cool games with prizes! Need we say more!?! :) Your RA will be bringing the entire floor down - so don't worry, you don't to go by yourself!
  • One more tip - watch out for folks on the street and sidewalks trying to sell you things, or get you to sign up for credit cards or other promotions. None of these are NYU sponsored - but these folks prey upon new students at this time. Don't give out personal information or sign up for anything - at the very least you'll just get a lot of junk mail &/or spam...at the worst, you could be giving someone the info they need to steal your identity!

See you tomorrow!
