TOMORROW: Real Dirt on Farmer John

TOMORROW!
Join THE GREEN STREAM for "The Real Dirt on Farmer John" on Tuesday, Dec 1st at 7pm in the
Charlie Chaplin Lounge of Goddard

For close to a century, a great American epic has been played out in the tiny town of Caledonia, Illinois, about 75 miles west of Chicago. THE REAL DIRT ON FARMER JOHN tells the story of one man, his farm and his family—a story that parallels the history of American farming. But Farmer John is no laconic, Grant Wood-type with a scowl and a pitchfork. Equal parts performance artist, writer and farmer, John Peterson has been known to switch out of his overalls into leopard latex or a purple-feathered boa.

RSVP to suhaly.bautista@gmail.com

Followed by an end of the semester Green Stream Party: all are welcomed!!

ASSASSINS!!

Do you have what it takes to be the Ultimate Assassin?

How to Participate:

Photocopy of NYU ID (with room number and email address) must be given to Chelsea (601) or Easlin (404) by 11:59 pm on Sunday the 15th!!

Assassins begins at 8 am Monday the 16th. You will find your target in your mailbox with a set of stickers that are for “killing” your target(s).

How to Play:

You “kill” your target by placing a (one) sticker on them. Once sticker is on target, target is “killed”. Killed target must then give you their assigned target, as it becomes your next target. Process repeats until there is one Ultimate Assassin left standing.

All assassinations will CEASE on Sunday the 22nd at 8 pm. If there is no Ultimate Assassin at this time, remaining Assassins will meet in the basement lounge and the Assassin with the most “kills” wins.

Rules:

1. You are SAFE from being assassinated INSIDE any Classroom, Dining Hall, and only your OWN Goddard Apartment.

2. NO switching targets.

3. NO violence!!

The winner of Assassins will also receive an AWESOME prize!!

If you have any questions about the game or need help photocopying your ID, please email Chelsea at cll309@nyu.edu.

Fall Ball A Success!

Students enjoying themselves at the Fall Ball.

Last night's Residential College Fall Ball was a success! Over forty well-dressed students and faculty from Goddard and Broome socialized and danced the night away in the Broome Room. Refreshments included fruit and veggies from Whole Foods, Kettle Korn, wings from Atomic Wings, and punch.
Meb Byrne & Joe Colucci planned the event.

Broome FFiR Stephanie Smith-Waterman and her children Molly and Charlie judged the best-dressed contest. Students Charlie Lei and Aditi Kini, both from Broome, were crowned the Homecoming King and Queen. They each won a $25 gift card to the Anjelika Film Center. Congratulations!
Charlie Lei & Aditi Kini show off their winning crowns.

Thanks to everyone for coming out and partying with us! We can't wait till next time!

Residential College Video Contest

$250 CASH PRIZE, BABY!

Are you an accomplished filmmaker? Are you an amateur filmmaker? Do you own something with which you can record videos? Do you have an enthusiasm for the Residential College that you want to share with the world? Then we want YOU to submit your Residential College promotional video, to get the word out about our hyperbolically awesome program!

The Residential College is looking to put together a short (30 second to 1 minute) video promoting why we are, in fact, superlatively awesome.
The winning entry will receive a $250 cash prize!

Here are some basic guidelines to help get you started:

*Entries are due by Monday, November 30th, with the winner being announced sometime after an approximate 2 week review period.

*Entries should be about 30 seconds to 1 minute long. Remember, less is more: you are not making an entry for Cribs.

*You may enter this contest as an individual or as a group.

*Entries may be filmed on handicams, they may be filmed using only the most premiere equipment rented from the most high-end of studios, they can even be flash animations if that’s your bag. Don’t feel like lack of “nice” equipment should be a hindrance to you.

*That having been said, the one caveat is that the entries have to be in a format we can put online. (No VHS tapes.) A good rule of thumb: if it can go up on YouTube, it’s good enough for us.

*Focus on what about the Residential College as a program gets you excited. The goal here should be to make the viewer want to examine more about the Residential College. Make sure to explain any NYU specific
vocabulary (Stream, FFIR, RHD, etc.), as the winning entry will go up on the website, where it will be seen by prospective applicants. Also, since this is going up on the website, keep the language “website friendly”. Lastly, the focus for a proper entry should be on the Residential College as a Program, rather than a promotion for either of its buildings.

*No use of copyrighted material (such as songs outside public domain) without the appropriate permissions. All submitted videos become the property of the Residential College at NYU.

Have fun, and good luck!
